Think Logo Helps Aquarium Stay on Budget for Mardi RAW Conference

Executive Summary

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas was preparing to host 400 people for “Mardi RAW,” a regional aquatics conference in New Orleans. The Aquarium asked Think Logo for help choosing unique promotional items to match the theme of the event and stay within their budget. Think Logo made it easy by coming up with perfect options for the event, including budget friendly promotional items.  Mardi RAW attendees loved the conference giveaways, especially the custom chocolates in the shape of shark teeth.

The Client

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas sits on the Mississippi River adjacent to the historic French Quarter of New Orleans.  More than 10,000 animals, representing 530 species, call the Audubon Aquarium home.

The Challenge

The Audubon Aquarium was getting ready to host the 30th annual Regional Aquatics Workshop (RAW). RAW is a three day conference that brings aquarium professionals from around the world to discuss and present important industry topics and initiatives. The Aquarium’s staff were planning the conference events, including social activities for the 400 attendees.  This year, event planners named the event “Mardi RAW” in honor of the event host city.  The Aquarium’s Assistant Curator, Dee Murphy, needed fun Mardi Gras themed items for the Mardi RAW kickoff dinner and social events. They also wanted aquatic themed promotional items for the conference. Because Ms. Murphy had never planned a conference like this before, she was looking for a promotional products partner to save her some time and, most importantly, stay on budget.

The Solution

First, we spent some time with Ms. Murphy to learn more about Mardi RAW and her event planning needs. Then the team got working on some fun yet budget friendly promotional items to incorporate into the conference.

First we suggested a budget-friendly custom Mardi Gras bead medallion imprinted with the Mardi RAW logo. We thought this would be a fun giveaway for attendees to wear in the French Quarter.

Since the conference logo includes a shark, we were also on the hunt for a shark themed item. We ended up providing custom chocolate shark teeth as a fun edible treat.  This ended up being a big hit with all of the aquatic professionals!

Several of the Mardi RAW social activities were taking place at local breweries. We knew that a stadium cup was a practical choice. But, we wanted to offer something a little different.  As a result, we suggested mood changing cups in the Mardi Gras colors (purple, green and gold) as a fun yet practical fit for the Mardi RAW theme.

We also wanted to provide a practical item for attendees to use during the conference sessions. Therefore, we suggested a promotional pen in the Mardi Gras colors as budget-friendly and useful giveaway for the conference.

The Results
